There is a public town where you can meet people and invite them for 1 on 1 , 2on2, 3on3 or group up with people to do missions.
You create your own char out of 5 classes (human, saiyan, namekian, freezer, majin) abd begin with lvl 1. as you level up you get stronger and can use atribute points to make your char how you want hom to be.
There is a main story wich goes from vegeta to bills saga and a bonus arc with bardok and broly
But zhe main aspect are parallel quests where you can group up with people to make missions ( like 60 or so to date ) and earn loot. Like gear, z-souls, equipment etc
Best db game to date imo
Edit: you can also ask famous dbz characters to become your master. You will do missions for them then and get a frw of their abilities.
Also u can farm dragonballs and call shenlong which i did twice now
