rs5 was bad cause chris punched a 2 ton bolder at the end and moved it......

5 was ok but still a part of this degrasong series of anazing games to zero fucks given anymore.

the only good things from rs5 and 6 were its coop, nothing beat copping a zombie game with a friend. the amount of stupid shit is actually funny when you dont take them remotely serious. like rs6 guns are worthless just melee you way to victory so much more fun than shooting everything

Anyone actually play it yet?

Was really debating about buying it until I read the reviews online last night.

All the critics and their moms give it fantastic ratings, but a lot of fans seem to hate it.

Seems like it's just a shameless VR plug. Super easy, super short, horrible boss fights, nothing but jump scares, and zero interesting items.....

I really hope none of that's true, just want to get a bit more feedback before I drop $60 on another game I'm going to hate. I've probably put less than 10 hours into the last 7 or 8 out of 10 games I've bought, pretty fucking upsetting.

just installed and will be playing at least 5-6 hours tonight

I am a hardcore RE fan and have played mostly every game except a couple of the spin offs so far so I will let you know how it compares to the rest in the series and as a stand alone

ok so

pros:
good graphics, 1st person feel really makes the mood more dramatic and they spent a lot of time building up the atmosphere. it's more than just jump scares (initially), because of the way the plot goes coupled with the environment make for a really eerie situation...for a certain duration of time at least. also the game handles well for it being 1st person as well with the running/shooting mechanics extremely smooth.

cons:
outside of the first couple hours you quickly get adjusted to the environment and it inevitbly loses its trance. the tense seen are overwhelmed with the predictably of the scares, in addition to the predictability of the plot. if the plot is predictable that is a huge hit to a survival horror game. the weapons are not that cool. the boss fights are ridiculously easy (at least on normal/default mode). however, my biggest gripe with the game is the plot...

spoilers
this just isn't a resident evil game, at least not as far as the plot/lore goes. all of the main resident evil games advanced the series in some direction. even RE6 for all the hate it gets made significant plot advancements in the shape of Albert's son and the new direction of BOWs in general. this game as it currently literally has nothing to do RE until the very end when we have a cameo from a certain major protagonist. oh, and the final weapon of the game is called Albert. aside from those 2 events there is literally nothing else that points you in the direction of it actually being a RE game. it would have been fine for a RE side game but not one for the main series. literally the best part of the game was the ending which showed Chris drive off in a helicopter with an umbrella logo on it - which allows for endless speculation and was cool. you thought that was Spencer they revealed in the game trailer? no, that was just a grandma. honestly fuck you capcom.

TLDR:
if you're buying it as a RE fan - it has very little to do with the RE franchise
if you're buying it as a stand alone game - you probably will be satisfied, but its not worth $60

I almost always play betas when available, and that's saved me from avoiding shit titles like Overwatch/BF1.

I haven't purchased many games lately, but as a small list of the bad ones I've bought in the past year or two or games I've put in less than 10 hours total on are the following.

Advanced Warfare - Should have known this would be complete ass, at least Bo3 was a little better. Did not buy the newest one and will not be buying it.
Evolve - Friends talked me into buying it
Master Chief Collection - I didn't think it was possible to fuck up this bad on a fucking remake
Final Fantasy 15 - Another game made for people who like games where they can't die and there's not a single challenge.... pretty much the opposite of why I loved FF games as kid.
Witcher 3 - I know this is an unpopular opinion. I just thought it was boring. Boring combat, incredibly easy. Probably would have liked it more if I put more time into it. I'm still considering fucking with it again.
Dying Light - Took me 6 hours to beat the game with 70% side mission completion.... holy fucking terrible
The Division - - Fuck this game was bad

Good ones

Doom
Halo 5
Fallout 4 - Aw, remembered one more good one.

3/10, pretty shit record. I'm an impulse buyer as well, and that's a serious problem. It's just difficult today with most of these games getting outstanding ratings. It honestly does feel like critics are being paid to give good ratings and with users it's just incredibly difficult to tell. You've got half the people who give a 1-3 rating, and the other half giving an 8-10 rating lol. That's how FF/RE both are right now. All positive critic reviews, and yet half the people who play it say it's shit.... seems odd that they'd be so highly reviewed. Then you have to do your best to weed out the trolls, idiots, and just blatantly bad gamers to find about 15-20 (out of hundreds) of reviews actually worth reading. I try to read an equal number of negative as I do positive reviews, and it's also pretty depressing that the negative ones (especially with the RE ones I checked out last night) are generally more concise, coherent, and relevant. Half of the good ratings are just "This game is fucking amazing, if you like games, this game is a game, check it OUT!!!!" . While the negative ones actually go into a full list of pros/cons, analysis etc...

Every other game I've actually enjoyed playing, has either been a F2P game or an old-school game that got put on this gen (RE1, FFX, FF7 etc....)

If you've got some other good titles for me to check out, please let me know. I'm desperate for good games right now. I've been playing through Doom VERY slowly. My kid is having a blast with his lego games and I let him use the Xbox most of the time when I'm not working. It's been great though and I really want to finish it. Halo 5 is still a lot of fun, hit detection is great, lag is minimal, maps are diverse and well thought out, weapon variety is on point and the number of competitive modes is fantastic. Fallout is an incredibly time consuming game, and I don't have a lot of that these days. I'd like to put more time into it, but I generally find myself drifting towards playing on my NES, fucking with Halo for a few rounds, or playing a level of Doom when I find myself with an hour or two to play.
