it was originally written back in 2001 for a contest, but it was too long and he didn't want to cut it down, so it became a web novel

.hack//series of games came first.... first SAO game was in 2013... where as .hack//infection was released in 2002 on ps2

I'm not saying SAO the anime or manga was a rip off of .hack// i'm just saying they ripped off the videogames

I'm more used to when people mention .hack they are talking in general, not just 1 media format
and as reference both series of games are published by the same company, Bandai Namco
I haven't played .hack so I can't compare, but I find people jump on the rip off too quickly for many things

if they are the same company making SAO games then that kinda pisses me off though.....

because that would mean I won't be getting any new .hack// games because now they will be focused on SAO games.....

SAO is gonna get all the love because it's the NEW big thing and .hack//series will be neglected even though I have been waiting for a new game since .hack//redemption....

same publisher, different dev studio
CC2 does .hack
I believe Banpresto or w.e does SAO

i did love the anime of SAO
havent tried any game of it... yet...

the games are pretty good
worth knowing is that the games are a different canon though
