from what i've been seeing mentioned what they mean is likely similar to things like X/X-2 or 13/13-2/LR

what do you mean? Those are complete games with sequels

As it stands now with the information given, this means FF7 will be episodic. They will be giving you episodes of FF7 at different dates over a year span, each individually priced. Consider the fact it's square-enix and you can assume something like four episodes at $30 an episode. It's a bogus tactic, nothing more.

X and X-2 isn't episodic, it is a game with a direct (continuing story) sequel, which doesn't really happen in FF (X to XI).

They name it X-2 to let you know it is the same characters, not because it is episodic

Both X and X-2 have beginnings middles and endings (aka a full story/game). Episodic games don't, they have a beginning, then the next episode has half of the middle and so on until the story is done.

You have no idea how SE thinks of the term, to assume that they think if the term differently than the terms actual meaning is just absurd.

What do u guys think about that they chaned the whole game? I think its amazing. I didnt play the newer ones so this might make me to play the newer ones too

I wouldn't play anything past FFX... Wouldn't touch FFX-2 since it ruined a great game like FFX, 12 was OK because the battle system and side quest were cool but the story sucked and the characters all sucked. 13 was just god awful. Way too linear just an awful game.

Everything before 10 was worth playing all amazing.

I am looking forward to the new FF coming out but we will see since the rest have been disappointments since 10

And also that's false atleast for ffx is it wasn't episodic at all as each game had its own story and each game had a set end. They didn't play off eachother much at all except adding to the grand scheme of things. I don't know for 13 because I never finished the first one with how bad it was let alone touch the sequel

If it still has the good story/world/characters, you'll still be disappointed when you play 13 after it. 13 was barebones garbage.

I preferred the ATB system to active systems, but if they keep most of the rest of the game intact I'll be happy with it.

same
I lost interest when I saw they changed the gameplay
I definitely don't like what they did with this
I think a lot of old time fans are disappointed as well

I already read about them adding content, so maybe that's what they mean. Not necessarily episodes but with added content, DLC maybe.

No it's not. They said the game itself was just way too detailed and to release the full ff7 (what we played on ps1) as a remade game, they'd have to release it in instalments. It's not a complete game day one and then DLC afterwards. Hell, I don't even think I'd play ff7 "dlc" if they released it. To me it'd ruin the game.
