shame on sony
as if 60 dollars plus tax for a fucking game isn't already enough
such bologna
i hope this doesn't become a trend; sony expecting us to fund/partially fund their projects while expecting us to then pay full price for said project
fuck that

this isn't a sony run project, but supposedly sony is going to help fund it
if the kickstarter hadn't hit that 2m, then sony wouldn't help fund it and the project would never start at all as they wouldn't have the funds to develop it

regardless, sony is front-manning this campaign to raise money for this game (a game that they'll end up profiting largely from) by pandering to their fanboy demographic during an e3 conference. it's tacky, lame, & discourteous to say the least.
there's just something about all of this that doesn't sit well with me.
shame on sony

Sony is simply helping fund it
kind of like how Deep Silver is now helping fund Mighty No 9, which allows it to do more than they planned (such as an actual physical release outside of the kickstarter backers)

Sony needed proof there was enough demand from fans to get this game made before they would fund it, and what better way for a small company than to use kickstarter? (since I'd assume Ys Net is a small company at best)

nah, this is just how it appears on a surface level

dig a little deeper and you'll realize this is nothing more than a clever ploy to get the public to semi-fund a project that sony would have funded in full anyways. they wanted to see if they could get away with this, and they did. expect to see similar situations pop up in the future.

sony knows what their customers desire and who desires what; they have an entire team dedicated to this. they're not oblivious.

this just opens the profit margins for sony substantially, as they'll only need to fork out a portion of what the game needs to be funded thanks to the crowd funding.

it's a shady move at best.

anyways, i'm done here. just wanted to express my displeasure.

sounds like you just think it's all a conspiracy

and no they don't always know, especially when this is a game from when Dreamcast was a thing and the dreamcast didn't get very far and the game itself was not heard from til now

and while it helps fund the game, those who back the project get something for backing it, so they're not just funding it, they're getting something for their money, so all the people putting money for development costs aren't people who they are profiting from
and not to mention the game is also headed to PC, which I would assume if Sony had any say on it, PC would not be an option

idk, i prefer the approach ninty took with bayonetta 2: just fund it and dont be a cheap prick

i don't wanna see big publishers using kickstarter, it should be a tool for the smaller/indy studios who need the money.

a big publisher isn't using kickstarter
it's Ys Net using kickstarter with sony willing to help fund if successful

and with Ninty funding Bayo, it was exclusive
this game is getting on PC as well so sony isn't controlling it, cause they would likely not let it hit PC if they had any say in it
