You can't prevent ddos, you simply have to fend it off by ramping up your server, since Microsoft's backend is so much stronger they were able to turn around much faster. So yes, it did help.

honestly they came up 1st ill igve them that but if you go and look an anons tweets its prob becasue they chose to help xbl first
both were getting owned by the ddos attacks and had nothing until anon interfered

I don't really believe they did anything. Dealing with a ddos is not something you can do from a computer, you need to be at the server, so what could anon possibly do unless they are running a Microsoft server.

Also, a ddos attack is not new. What needs to be done to bring the servers back up is not unknown. Microsoft/Sony weren't waiting for someone to come tell them that what to do.

yeah anon just throws up twweets there helping and xbl comes pu like 30-60 mins after and same with the psn but they never did anything but i guess they just got perfect timing right?
its not like they exposed lizard squad or anything and even warned them to not attack on xmas day like they said they would

anon doesnt hack a whole bunch of places just for the hell of it they cant hack anything :bonk:

im not sure how the helped maybe they somehow hacked into the xbl and psn and fended off the ddos manually giving them the ability to put them back up who the fuck knows
they must got in pretty deep to get the ip and shit of LS and expose them and everything though i mean lets be serious you dont just get that shit by googling "who is lizard squad" ...well you might now

actually iirc they said they had their own firewall that they were using to defend vs the ddos attacks

First off, you are missing the point of what anon is. Its not a group. But lets ignore that.
Second, yes. Someone tweeted "they are taking care of it" then posted a bunch of names. Were any of those names confirmed to be lizard squad, nope. You just played into the story that one person told you.

I'm speaking from a computer engineering background and can tell you that's not how a ddos attack works.

you do realize every time psn has been ddosed the exact same group has ddossed xbl right after?
that xmas hack thing with lizard squad both were down by them and anon had to save both

dont get me wrong both should be able to fend this shit off but xbl isnt doing any better vs attacks
and if microsoft was to not get hacked while psn does that should raise some red flags as to whos prob doing it
idk if this is mait it doesnt seem to be so its likely a ddos the whoel being connected but not to games.. thats what happened before

wonder whos ddosing them

You do realize that PSN is down much more often than XBL though, right?

If you don't, you're shilling around on isolated circumstances.

I have no idea if Anon did this. But a thought is to limit the attackers bandwidth. Allows for less attacks. But either way, Microsoft has a stronger backing in this department. Which makes complete sense. Regardless, I don't really care if they do or don't, I just want PSN to work so I can play my games.

Please don't turn this into a flame war between Microsoft and Sony and just report if anyone gets on.

As to those who aren't having issues, I was playing a couple hours ago but then I turned off my ps4 and tried to get back on later and had no luck. I haven't tried in like 30 minutes bu that's also because I've given up on it. I hope it's back up tomorrow.

so becasue your a computer engineer that has no idea what or how the psn or xbl servers are made you know that anon cant do anything to help
do you hack? have any hacking experience or do you just plug shit in as an engineer
and yeah its just a story... like the one when they ddosed the psn and took it down or all those other places they hacked that was just fake they never hacked anything

DDoS isn't a hack is the thing... I understand ROM's side, but yes, there are ways to prevent DDoS. Either way, I don't get the point of talking about the xmas hack when it has, most likely, nothing to do with what is going on.

I don't see psn down all that often... I think people freak out and claim its psn when it's their ISP or their in home network causing issues. Then people run with it

If it is down for a ton of people, then I'm willing to bet that it isn't ISPs or any home networking. As for myself, I know it's not my ISP or my home networking and I cannot connect to Destiny (but I can get on PSN and talk to people in party chat).

e/ I do agree though. PSN isn't down really that much. At least to my knowledge.
