AAA's these days haven't been turning to be anything amazing anyway, so imo that's not a big deal

Lucky you..what version do you have? OLED or LCD?
I bought mine for full retail price..$299 (OLED)
Then a month or so later it went down to $199
That kinda pissed me off a little..But whatever, I've literally spent hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of man hours on it, a hundred bucks didn't bother me too much
I platinum'd Madden 13 while at a pizza parlor ordering a couple of slices..Gravity Rush while burning a J with my buddy at the park..MLB 14 while we (my gf and I) were driving to the casino..
I own ps3 and ps4 and I've spent more time on my vita than both ps3 and ps4 combined..I absolutely love it. Its worth every penny
To OP..my best advice is invest $15 in a hard cover case for it and a screen protector

the 3ds does have an amazing selection of games though

does the screen protector mess with the touch screen at all? mines too old but if i get a 2nd vita im definitely getting a case for it

I never had any issues with the screen protector affecting the touch screen controls.. And I've had my vita going on 2years now and I've had a screen protector since day1

How can i check it?
If you taje the systen with you its well worth it ..
I have never take it outside yet

Check the charging port..if its similar to like an iPhone charger..its the OLED
If its a micro USB..its LCD
Also..check the speakers
If the speakers holes are placed to look like a rectangle..it's the OLED
If the speakers holes are placed to look like an octagon or circular in shape..its the LCD

i got a screen protector, and it does not mess with the touch screen

if i was u buy a couple of them, cause trying to put them on perfect suck without getting air pockets in it

it took me like 3 tries to get it on perfect, there pretty cheap
