First what kind of router?

Second type 192.168.0.1 into your browsers address bar and check your router settings. Make sure uPnp is turned on. Also make sure the router is not blocking your ps4 from accessing the Internet.

Netgear N300, model WNR2000v5

I've been typing 192.168.1.1 and routerlogin.com, but neither are working for me. I've been trying to do this http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23020/~/opening-ports-for-internet-games-and-applications-on-netgear-routers

You are getting that code wired or wireless?

Or sometimes 192.168.1.1, but yeah. I would first see if the router is even seeing the PS4/.

I'm getting that code with wired.

It sounds like the router is blocking your ps4 ip.

You can see what the ip is easily because your ps4 broadcasts a low level wifi signal for use with second screen devices.

If this is the case, how do I prevent it from blocking it?

192.168.0.1

Or

192.168.1.1

Whichever works. You'll need to put in admin for the user name and your router password for password.

Once you're in you can navigate to any settings necessary. Unfortunately I'm only familiar with asus and linksys. But basically uPnp needs to be turned on. I'd turn off anything on your blocked list of IPs especially since you just bought the router.

Hit wifi protected setup button while doing Internet setup on ps4. It should just enter the credentials for you.

You should be able to see an active list of devices on your network as well. Make sure you see your ps4 in that list.

I've been trying this, but when I type that into my browser, it says "this webpage is unavailble".

And the rest of your devices work just fine? (Yes I realize you're typing here still but you could be on your phone like I am right now)

Try accessing your modem using 192.168.100.1

If you can access that there's an issue with your router.

Does netgear have a desktop user interface? Or is it just on the browser?

Yeah, everything so far works fine. I have wireless on my phone. The Ethernet cord attached to my desktop (what I'm on right now and is working fine) is the same wire I unplug and plug into my PS4 to connect online with the PS4, except my PS4 now won't connect.

I can access 192.168.100.1, it brings me to that modem page.

I never downloaded anything on my computer for the router, from what I remember, I set everything up on a browser.

It comes with a disk? If it did try running that to see if there's a desktop UI you can bypass the webbrowser with.

If all else fails

Try a factory reset on the router is my only solution if you can't access the router from your computer

If you can get to that webpage, just make sure uPnp is enabled. If there is a way to manually input safe MAC addresses, then look up your PS4's MAC address (It's something like going into settings then network then view connection status). Best of luck.

Oh I thought he said he could use the router but not access it's settings?

Finally fixed it, had to reset the router to factory settings to access 192.168.1.1, from there just had to assign the MAC address of my computer to the router.
