No not adhoc..you just need 5 friends on your psn friends list that have it..you don't even need to race vs them..soon as you have at least 5 friends who own the game..trophy pops..I'm on your friends list

Edit: friends have to have had to play the game at least once though..cuz obviously the servers won't know if you have the game if you never played it /synced to the server
