Does it save battery if I dim the light

Never really thought about it, but im sure it do. Probably not alot but still. Anyway i just dont like the light. When playing in the dark, it just reflect everywhere!

The light serves no purpose anyways
It actually bothers me when I play in low light

So if I were to turn off the light completely the ps4 would not sense the controller?

Idk and I forget what the hell I was playing but my controller was blocked from view of my ps4 and ps4 camera and it did not register the buttons I was hitting until it was in view again

Edit: its probably also the reason if u turn your ps4 on and don't choose a user right away and it recognizes your face but wants you to hold your controller in the little on screen box. To sense the controller

It's not a sensor
Just a fancy way of distinguishing between different controller

Its original purpose was and is to be a tracking device for Project Morpheus
As of right now its function is limited to distinguish different players in conjunction with the ps4 camera
And finally. It can only be dimmed. Not shut off. Not as of yet.
