Not really a stupid thing to say. NA is the largest consumer base for console video games. In the past generation, NA provided everything MS needed to stay in front of Sony for half a decade. It wasn't until Sony went through 3 iterations of hardware and dropped their original price by $300 that they were able to catch up.

Valid points but worth noting that PlayStation's success wasn't soley attribute to those facts and the same are true to degrees for 360 (the iterations and price drop point, not sure the exact specs/price though - just know that my launch console was not the same at the end of generation spec/price wise).
