Does it just need a thorough cleaning? or should I just blast the back vent with compressed air

PS3?
There is a way to increase the speed of the fan to blow dust out but you better hope it's just dust build up and not a faulty fan.

My ps4 fan gets loud sometimes but not to much. Any suggestions? Maybe just needs a cleaning?

Must be normal then i'm guessing. Gets a little hot to but I think its normal. My old ps3 could get pretty loud sometimes to. Just in case I turn a small fan onto it though.

Games that weigh heavily on the processor will cause the fan to spool up higher I've noticed. Barely above a whisper for something like resogun but highly noticeable on games like gta.

A cleaning isn't exactly necessary. But it is still a good thing to do regardless

Also I don't recommend doing the fan test on a PS3. It won't necessarily hurt the PS3 but it's not really the intended function in terms of cleaning out the dust. In some cases it's been reported to blow out a fair amount of dust but it can potentially suck more in or move it around in there causing it to create a problem where there wasn't before.

I would always use an air duster at an angle parallel to the vents to remove excess dust at the vent so air can flow normally.

Thays yaksha, thats actually pretty cool to know. I actually notice this now. Playing netflix / movie compared to battlefield 4 is a huge difference.
