Hey guys, I have a quick question.

I am upgrading my xbox 360 to an xbox one soon and I wanted to know, since I am transfering my old gamertag from my 360 over to my new one, how do I go about doing that?

Do I just turn the one on and will it ask me to sign into my account? If this is the case, what will I have to do on my old 360 when the profile is switched over? Do I just delete my profile now on xbox one on the xbox 360? I only ask because I plan on selling it. I just didn't want to delete the account on the xbox 360 first and lose my account and not being able to transfer it.

Any response is helpful. Thanks!

When you first load up the xbox one, you'll choose your language and wifi/ethernet, etc.. It will then ask for you to either download your xbox live profile or make a new one. You will need to know the email for the profile and the password. The xbox live gold membership you still have is shared with the xbox one and 360.
It will download and you'll be good to go! There is nothing you have to do on the 360 for your profile to transfer over. You can be signed into both consoles on the same profile if you wanted to. I recommend a factory reset for your 360 after getting your xbox one set up, before selling it.
