1. Can i attach my gamertag to a non hotmail/microsoft account or is it a must? (i hate hotmail.outlook)
2. After i download my games to my system is still requires the disk? I was told i didn't need the disk after they were downloaded.

Not sure who told you about not needing the disc but they are wrong.

Not sure on the email. My cousin has a Yahoo, but his account is also 7 years old. Might be grandfathered in from when you could use any email.

Yes. You do it on Live.com. First add your desired email address as an alias, make it primary, then remove your old alias.
