Yes

The code you got you put into bungie.net (you can do that now) then on the day of the release bungie emails you 3 codes, each one will grant you access to the full beta.

With one code you can make all the characters you want etc.. The other two codes are meant to supply you with a "fireteam" essentially giving you people to play with.

IMO its pretty brilliant marketing to get people playing the game, especially prior to the release..
