From someone who has bought a majority of the houses which one is the best?
I own Whiterun Riften Markharth and Solitude house

The solidtude one is the best out of the 4 I own but I heard the one in Dawnstar is better?

If your torture the people in the dungeon they will usually tell you a location of an item that is worth 1-2kg, it's one of the nifty perks of doing Dark Brotherhood quest-line.
Besides the free house, free horse, free alchemy trainer/someone to sell supplies to, free black redguard to watch your back, a few henchmen and a corpse of a talking woman.
