Yup. And at the time of the psn outage they lost a ton in hacked points. Not defending Sony, everyone knows their infrastructure sucks.
You would think that it would try to upgrade it. I mean im sure it is trying but not very well it seems. To me if your console of choice is in second place for any specific thing its a good thing because generally that brand will try to make up the gap. Last gen Sony sunk a ton of time and money into amazing games because they were getting killed by the 360 in the beginning. If PS was winning that console race I think they would have played things safer. Xbox was the one that played things safe with all the Halo,Gears,Forza and Fable sequels that they ended up falling behind from a games perspective and it carried over into the sales of the One. Gamers gravitated to the PlayStation because of the games. Now that you see Xbox being in second place Microsoft is putting a lot of money and time into new franchises. If Xbox One was winning this generation I don't think we'd be getting games like Quantum Break,Sea Of Thieves and ROTR being exclusive. They would have taken the safe route and just stuck with what they know works. And as someone who owns an Xbox One its an exciting time to be a gamer on the platform. Yes Xbox is losing the sales race but they are trying to make up for it by giving great games to get people to come to their brand. Whether it works or not doesn't really matter to me as a consumer because the Xbox is still selling very well and making Microsoft money so there is no reason to think that they wont continue to support it.
Sony is doing great this gen but they need to fix their infrastructure and I think they are making a mistake with the VR. They are misleading consumers with the $399 price tag. Im sure a lot of people will buy it only to find out they need another $100-200 just to get a move controller and camera and be upset. And bad PR/word of mouth can lead to bad things. That and I think they are going to do exactly what Microsoft did with Kinect. They are going to invest too many devs and time into it and the hardcore gamer on playstation will suffer for it. That or they aren't going to invest enough into the VR and its going to lack and be a failure. Its a platform that they have to go all or nothing on IMO which is going to hurt one brand or the other. I hope they can figure it out and it works out great for them, but I see a lot of issues with it.
