People wanted something new and felt like xbox owed them something or it wasn't a very good console for whatever reason.

People did not understand why they had an xbox. They got it because their friends had one and it was all the hype.
It's because it has more games to offer and is superior other than running shit in native 1080p

Bad PR was the main reason. 100$+ price tag, forced kinect to play, always online with 24/7 checks, no trading games, etc. Everyone lost their shit and considering the ps4 has slightly better specs anyways, it seems miles better than the xbone


of course xbone removed all that forced online crap, reduced the price, but now the ps4 has gained quite a bit of momentum so they need some big incentive to get the xboner now

I actually owned both for quite some time.
I wasn't to keen on the interface and the controller. Both I could of lived with. At the time I sold my 360 everything was multiplat and a few exclusives were coming to PS3. I figured if I am going to have two consoles that have similar libraries I might as well invest in one, for financial reasons. Chose the PlayStation ecosystem because I preferred it overall.

That's me though. My point was that that was the general perception.
Perceptions aren't always fact, example: what is happening with the One right now.

I don't know how anyone could choose the PS3 over the 360 for those reasons simply because you're missing out on a huge feature with the 360 called party chat.

All my friends at the time were dudebro's who barely touched consoles.
Maybe if they were bigger gamers and we played a lot together I would have chosen differently.

never once in my life wanted party chat on ps3. If someone isn't in the same game, don't really feel the need to talk with them
