No harm done.
It is a game you can finish fast, and also can exploit it and become so OP that it poses no challenge should you choose to do so.
I toyed with the smithing/enchanting/alchemy loop and it made me too much of a god, which was fun for a bit but got boring as well. Then I toned it down and just explored, and got lost in the escapism the game has. I must say it's one of the better sandbox games I've played. Oblivion was also great but could also be broken if you chose that path.
In all reality people can put 30 hours in and enjoy it, and also others can still be playing 1000 hours later and having fun. To me, that's a successful game.
I agree completely that the game is a success. It did exactly what I needed it to do and in total, I put probably 100 hours in. If I can get even 24 hours worth of playtime, I consider it $60 well spent. I never did break things with alchemy in any of the games (I dabbled with it, realized how horribly broken it was back in Morrowind and never fucked with it again). Enchanting/Smithing are pretty broken in Skyrim and I certainly used that as much as possible once I got my smithing/enchanting maxed out. Same goes for Morrowind, constant effect enchantments made the game easy, but also let you do some pretty amusing stuff. I started a new game about a week ago and did the Daedric tower shield+an exquisite amulet with HP gen (13-14 HP/second), threw on an exquisite ring with restore fatigue (24-25 FT/second) - since I finished that, I've been finding mobs of 3-4 people in mostly shrines that I just let attack me for 10-15 minutes at a time to level up my medium/light/heavy and unarmored all at the same time. I also made a ring with constant effect invis, just so I don't get bothered by the fucking cliff racers when I'm running to an objective. I loved how vast the customization options were in all of the ES games.
Some of the issues I have with Skyrim are the same issues with Oblivion. Every dungeon feels the same, it's lame that you can't find any awesome gear until you grind levels, and the lack of unique/amazing items that can just be found/stolen in all sorts of random areas that you'd never think to look. It forced me to comb every single inch of the map, something I just didn't feel Skyrim/Oblivion did that for me after I had found all the Daedric shrines.
It is a great game and I'm not bashing on it or anything. Was really just curious what everyone is doing in the game once they're so far. Maybe I just have a short attention span, but I just got bored of the dungeon raiding when I knew there was no possibility of a gear upgrade in them.
