It has to be a good product to become the hot,new thing.There are new tech gadgets that come out weekly,doesnt mean they all turn out to be this big massive thing.The Wii was innovative and the hot tech thing for a while and it sold like hot cakes and then it died.Nintendo rode that wave too long and then put out a crap follow up that is supported by very few third party games.

Nothing is official but it is being rumored that halo 5 sold 1.5 million physical copies week one in the U.S. and most games add another 10-20% on digital so best guess at the moment is around 1.8 million. Lowest opening for the Halo series other then ODST.Not counting MCC and combat evolved anniversary as those are remakes and sold far less.

Having said all that,with only 8 million consoles sold in the U.S. that does mean one out of every 4 xbox owners purchased it which is a very good attach rate. And you have to keep in mind that when the other Halo's came out they had tens of millions of xbox consoles sold at that point
