Im guessing it comes from this kids who's parents are buying the games, or are buying them with allowances.

See the trick is get a job, then an extra $10 is like "who fking cares, its $10."

the problem is most people believe the money for online passes go towards developers, and thats just not the case. i can understand the cost of running servers, (and EA are famed for their terrible servers anyway), but these passes are absurd.
as for the lawsuit, i havent seen enough details about the case to say for sure, but if there are recorded and printed claims of their offering a free game when purchased for the ps3, or any other system for that matter, they will end up settling. most likely requiring a receipt (and who keeps a game receipt?) to prove they purchased the game new before they are provided with a code to redeem for their game.

And now it's also impossible to rent the game for the multiplayer...

EA is making boatloads off of the sports titles with very little effort. I don't see how you can be sympathetic for a major developer and publisher.

Game trading or buying/selling used has been around as long as gaming... and gaming has only continued to expand. Something tells me they do just fine. Online passes are just a way to abuse the community. derpa

Rewarding people for buying new isn't the same thing. They take away MP in some games if you buy used. MP isn't a new concept... games had free MP in the past.

I dont hate you for buying used. I just find it annoying when people complain over not getting the same stuff, because they want it at a discounted price.

They're buying a used game. The discount is because it's used. Why shouldn't I get to play NHL online if I buy it used? I'm complaining because a mega developer is trying to milk the community I love. Is EA going to reroute that $10 into better servers or more content in their sports franchises? Nope. In NHL we get the same shit every year. Wingers don't go for the puck off a tie up, goalie never makes a move for the puck on a breakaway, etc.
