Same thing happened to me. Only way I could get past her is go back like 4 saves.

How far into theives guild do you gotta go before getting skeleton key?

you get it in like the 2nd to last quest or so, however, the quest you get after it you need to return it and you cannot get it again after it, so if you want to finish the theives guild you can''t keep it, but there is a perk in lockpicking to make it so your lock picks wont break anymore

pure mage, i have no interest in lvling lockpicking, so I guess I won't finish quest until I wan't to end game.

well even if you dont put perks into it, if u use lockpicks to open chest and doors throughout the game it should level up pretty high, which makes most locks pretty easy to pick, and the bonus you get from completing the guild is better than the skeleton key in my opinion especially since the skeleton key doesnt count as one of the 15 deadric artifacts needed to get the acheivement
