Nah they should start thinking of DLC ideas after the games come out, I mean it only takes a long time to think/develop these things, the 3-4 months where the game is in manufacturing/testing they should just sit with their thumbs up their ass.

Well considering that is what they did years ago and the quality of DLC/Expansion packs and games in general has deteriorated since then makes me think sitting with their thumbs up their ass is a good idea.

It's really the consumers fault. Expansion packs don't sell well because they're "too expensive", and they cost a lot to make because they're basically mini-games. To make an expansion you have to be working on it during development of the original game, and a lot of the time it's reused content that they cut/didn't think was appropriate.

Expansions died when people stopped buying them, more people by cheaper, smaller DLCs and they're far cheaper to make and you have a lot more room for creativity because of the shorter development cycle. The only games you'll see expansion packs in now are PC games, and likely PC games that are for a niche market. And you gotta market the hell out of them, and a good way to do that is before the game comes out.

I don't see how 30 dollars for 3 individual DLC that are planned and prepared ahead of time is better than a good 30 dollar expansion pack after the game has been out, worked on, tweaked, and fixed.

/edit mind you the 3 DLC are just small chunks/1/3 of the total "DLC"

This advertising is really pissing me off. Doesn't matter how much the developers say its not a pro American game, it's neutral, Connor doesn't take sides unless it's the Templars, why do we only get one trailer where he kills Colonial men, why is everything else pointing to the British being the bad guys? "Blah blah blah George Washington wins, this country will finnallly be free". Garbage garbage garbage.

Expansion packs are made before a game is made as well.

A point I didn't mention there, if a game doesn't sell well/not recieved well, your work on an expansion pack is out the drain, waste of money/time. DLCs are a lot more cost effective.

How is a shock the redcoats are frequently killed. They are the only official government at the time. It isn't like Colonials had a recognized government. Obviously the British will be the ones enforcing British law which was the only one.

What are you talking about? The 13 Colonies had their own goverment well before the revoltionary war. It's next to impossible to run anything when it takes a month to get orders over. Even if you knew nothing about history (Which will tell you that the 13 colonies had their own colonial goverment's that banded together) you could presume they had a colonial goverment.

Besides, the developers have already said you will be killing colonial military and goverment figures as well as British military and goverment figures, what is stupid though is they're pushing all the advertisement and information as if you're on the side of the colonists (Which would destroy all their lore because Connor is a Mohawk and the Mohawks all sided with the British or tried to stay neutral (And they all ended up being lumped together as loyalists anyway).

The government was approved by the British Government and still under its command. It did not have its own army. It took them awhile to establish some form of uniform.

As a side note, you are likely getting the commercials that are primarily suppose to entice Americans to buy the game. Those commercials are going to feature redcoats getting beat up, it tends to make Americans feel proud and excited.
