They don't track physical sales either unless every distributor the publisher is working with just openly shares their numbers with them.

MLB is not a big title you are correct,but it is a sports game. Sports fans are nuts and by their sports titles every year. Here in Canada their is probably a million copies of NHL pre ordered. Every year NBA 2K has about the same amount of pre orders same with Madden,FIFA etc etc.

My digital comment was to the guy mentioning how do they track or whatever,not defending Quantum Break's low pre order numbers. Generally speaking new IP's have low pre order numbers because no one knows what the game is. Games like The Division and Destiny are exceptions to the rule since they have had so much hype. Overwatch has a ton of hype behind it and its not got crazy pre order numbers either. Quantum Break will have good or bad sales based on word of mouth and reviews. I don't really put too much stock into reviews anymore,but a lot of the buying public does.

And you can spin Ratchet And Clank any way you want to try to put down Quantum Break,but its a very well known franchise with a core fanbase. That's what pre orders generally are. The people that love a franchise and sink their money into it before a game comes out.

They essentially estimate based on a number of factors. They are usually within a general ball park on their numbers as they will say xbox has sold 20,150,153 and Microsoft will come out saying they've sold 20 million xbox's (those are both made up numbers as an example btw).

They track things no different then a CNN or Fox would when they do estimates on what the primaries will be basing their estimates on exit polls. Both end up being fairly accurate but they are just that...estimates

Ya exactly,a NEW IP. The Last Guardian was supposed to be a huge,generation defining game and its not even charting on the pre-orders. Horizon: Zero Dawn is supposed to be a big exclusive for Sony and its not on the pre-orders. Both games I don't doubt will do very well for sony,if The Last Guardian even actually exists beyond a 20 minute video they've showed. But they are new IP's that no one wants to invest their money into without seeing the actual game released and reviews and friends playing it etc etc.

If your going to troll at least come up with some stuff that makes sense
