i never used a console verticaly

after hours of google i found out only thing that can damage the console is if the disc collapses and hit internal parts

i know that disc scratching is a common problem with xb dvd drives... i just dunno if walmart is gonna give me a new one just for that

Walmart is probably the easiest place to return too. I've returned stuff to Walmart that I bought a year ago from a different store without a receipt.

My cat tipped over my Xbox and it broke. The disk drive wouldn't work anymore. The hard drive corrupted and wouldn't reformat. The console itself would freeze and produce a grinding sound when turned off.

All of this because it tipped from a vertical position to a horizontal position.

you must have had a junk one. I burned through 4 of the first gen systems in i think 1-2 years... then I got one that wouldn't quit. I think it was still a first gen, but that thing got dropped from crazy heights and still functioned perfectly.
