They had a vision that was ruined due to bad PR and the blind fanbase of users who were never interested in Microsoft to begin with. This vision was great and would have added an extreme change into next gen gaming if people would have only taken the time to understand it. Instead of doing that people joined the snowflake that soon turned into a mountain slide of misinformation, admittedly in part due to bad PR, and because of that we are looking at another 10 years of comparing exclusives and a minute difference in graphics.

I don't blame Microsoft for changing up the plans of the Xbox One; I blame people like you who never trusted them in the first place.

The PR was in their hands to show why you should trust them and they messed it up on their own. You are supposed to come in not trusting and be shown why you should trust them, not the other way around.

Assuming I am one of those people who never trusted them, I didn't pop up overnight. They knew were going against the grain and decided to abandon it as soon it wasn't deemed profitable.

Do you honestly think that if there vision was accepted and making them money we would be seeing these 180's?

We have two consoles: Xbox trying its hardest to be like PS4. Why? Because the PS4 is making money.

You should blame Microsoft for the changes, because instead o sticking with their vision they are doing what is better for their wallets.

People want it because it makes sense with what they are offering.
Given the choice between removing the Kinect to make multiplat experience comparable to PS4 or experiences that actually use the Kinect in new ways, most gamers would choose the later. Instead, there is nothing to show you why you need a Kinect, so obviously people are going to want the "price drop".

You spent 5+ developing the console with forced Kinect but didn't spend any time developing a reason to need it.

I certainly wouldn't choose the latter. Motion and Voice peripherals, just like 3D and the VR being developed currently are all gimmicks.

Being devloped currently, yes but it doesn't have to be used the same way.
If they didn't abandon their vision of a "Kinect'd" Xbox then we could have seen decisions made to support the Kinect in ways that wouldn't be consider a gimmick.

i get what you're saying, but when the general public has complained about every idea you've come out with...

they wanted to go digital and mirror steam - people don't want to give up the ability to trade in games and buy used games

they marketed the kinect as part of the social aspects of the system - yeah, they needed to develop games that utilize it better... but it was really more of a communications and social function. it's actually a good quality webcam/microphone.

most of the criticism has been from pc and sony fanboys who wouldn't buy an xbox anyway. based on games, the xbox one has the advantage right now. they're hoping by cutting out the kinect and thus dropping the base unit price, they'll be able to capitalize on having the better game library right now.

i don't see a reason to buy either, but mostly because video games just aren't a priority for entertainment anymore to me.
