PvP
PvP, or Player vs Player, functions a little differently in the Elder Scrolls Online. What you will find in ESO, is three Factions, all fighting over the entirety of Cyrodiil. Each one battling it out with the other, trying to maintain control of their territories while taking others from their enemies, all in an attempt to rule the Empire and have their strongest player crowned Emperor.
Map
Long time fans of the Elder Scrolls series should instantly recognize the map, as PvP actually takes place in Cyrodiil. The province is split up into three sections for the three different Factions.
The map is quite large as it encompasses all of Cyrodiil in one zone, unlike other parts of the Map, where provinces are split into smaller zones. Travel around the map can be sped up thanks to the Wayshrines which let you teleport to other shrines, so long as your group has control of it and it is connected to the grid properly. Of course mounts can also be used to speed up land travel across Cyrodiil.
Player Combat
Player combat is fairly straight forward. When you see someone, you can run in and engage them. Remember that not every class is equal, so jumping into a 1 v 1 as a healer might not work out well for you. For this reason, it is best to be in a group so that you can all engage targets as one. It should come as no surprise that co-operation is the key to success in a PvP environment.
Combat can be hectic and fast paced. Players will be running in and out of battle and in the heat of the moment it can be hard to keep track of exactly where your target it. Remember that the enemies will all have small icons beside them indicating what Faction they are with. Should you happen to fall, you can respawn instantly back at base, or if you are lucky, an ally can revive you using a Soul Gem.
