I'm not sure they owned the IP seeing as Dead Island 2 is coming out from different Dev.

Ya they own the IP

They just passed it to another team
Probably because how many people found it disappointing and the way they handled shipping etc etc

I remember when DI launched it was WAY under supplied and people had to wait weeks to get it

If techland owned the IP, they wouldn't pass it and let it be published under another dev. Deep Silver owns Dead Island IP.

Dead Island was fun but it had so many glitches.
