I know I couldn't play an FPS without one. I use it because a lot of my friends don't PC game. I Have xim2/3
Currently using xim2 on my 360 and xim 3 with CM on xbox one. Waiting patiently for xim4 to release.
mainly use it for FPS and playing some single player games. A lot of games have a better experience with the pad IMO

Just curious. I also don't use a Keyboard. I use a Sony nav controller and a mouse.
