Yeah, I'm going to study English and Japanese next year, I'm really comfortable with English, however...Japanese.. that's not really the case.
Everyone is starting from zero, or atleast close to zero, but I'd like to have some advices about what I should learn first, cause I'd like to do something MORE than what i'm gonna learn, to be more comfortable.
Also, I'd like to know if you Japanese speakers sometimes write with the japanese terms (Kanji's right..?) or do you always type like all of us do with english for example.

I appreciate any answer ;)

This is something you actually want to avoid if you plan on mingling with other Japanese people. They'll think you're stupid if you're running around screaming desu all the time.

It's a learning tool, not a learning method. I have learned a lot of vocabulary and culture from watching anime.

Are you referring to the usage of kanji vs. hirigana? If so they are both used, along with katakana. Kanji is typically used for things like nouns, verbs etc. Hirigana is used for conjugation, adverbs, particles, etc.

Romaji*

You should learn to read/write in japanese. Romaji is used to help English learners. You want to move on to kanji as fast as possible.

Watching anime does help a bit if you're listening to them pronounce phrases instead of just reading the subs. Flashcards are very helpful!

There are about 6,000 useful kanji so get studying :P

(Cousin who's over in Japan right now: Japanese is one of the hardest languages for an American to learn.) So good luck!
