I would like to learn forms of communication, and the history.

I know this must of been asked many times and sorry for making another post about it.

I currently have the program "Passport to 35 languages", and it doesn't seem that great to me.

Any suggestions to web sites, programs, e-books, etc, etc to learn the Japanese language and/or history would be really nice!

Thanks.

Some good sites:

http://japanese.about.com/ - General learning site, very good everyday phrases
http://www.timwerx.net/language/jpverbs/ - Various Japanese verb conjugations
http://www.guidetojapanese.org/ - Good grammar guide (requires knowledge of kana)
http://www.nhk.or.jp/lesson/english/index.html - Audio Lessons

http://thejapanesepage.com/lessons - some decent lessons
http://www.physics.ucla.edu/~grosenth/jwpce.html - download JWPCE, a program containing Japanese dictionary and various forms of kanji look-up
