Yes it means karate, but thats a chinese word.

yes, and it reads "Karate-do". ("do" is the 3rd letter which means "way" or "road".)
letters are common between chinese and japanese though the pronounciation is different.
just like many euro countries sharing the same letters "roman alphabet".

That doesnt look like the Korean writing for Taekwondo since I am taking that
Martial Arts. but yeah similar

taekwondo in japanese can be expressed as
テコンドー (tekondo, in katakana) or 跆拳道 (in kanji, probably common letters with korean hanja).

but as unique martial arts, karate and taekwondo are strictly distinguished from each other.
