i kinda want to experience everything i can, do you have any idea of what the cost of a trip would be?

and when the best time to go there would be? :o

thanks for all the help :)

spring probably so you can see the sakura
winter in sapporo would be nice, havent done that yet

yen rate is bad right now
food, might spend 500-2000 yen a meal depending on how fancy you eat. can easily be a lot more
drinks in vending machines are 100-200
you can get little figurines in akihabara for 100-500 or get the bigger ones for like 1-2k

a club i went to had a cover charge of 2k and drinks were 500 each. theres some free ones though
alcohol in the stores is pretty cheap. not sure how much it is in canada, but a bottle of captain morgan or something was a lot less over there
again, depends what you want to do. just research ahead of time like zoos/parks/museums/whatever
oh and dont exchange your money at the airport, they usually have shitty exchange rates

2k yen cover!? damn :C
500 for a drink isn't bad, that's like $5 canadian i think?

aww summer will pretty much be the only time i can go.. damn i wanted to see the sakura trees for sure

so should i get my money changed here in canada before i get on the plane i guess?

my budget for a 7 day trip i'm not really sure of, but i'd rather not spend more than $6,000 but it seems like i may have too.. including flight + hotels and stuff

i'm pretty excited, how many times have you been to japan?

also.. i don't speak/read a word of japanese or any language other than english for that matter, is that a big problem?

yea, i would find a place with a good exchange rate back at home before you go.
$6,000 should definitely be doable. ill make a little thingy with all the stops on the JR that i remember have good stuff

ive been to japan prob ~5 times. also studied abroad there for 6 mos

not speaking japanese is fine, you can usually just get away with pointing at something when ordering food and such. or holding up 2 fingers for two people if you go to an attraction
theres some restaurants where theres a vending machine type thing, you put in your money and push what you want and it prints out a ticket. then you give the ticket to the waiter or chef. some of them have pictures, some have english under, some are all japanese. depends where you go

a lot of the people can speak some english as well, so shouldnt be a huge problem

Depends on how you travel.
Basically you can travael cheaper in Japan compared to Canada.
If you're on a budget, you can have Gyudon meal for 2-3$.. you wont get meals for 2-3$ in canada.
Also you can get cheap accomodation compared to Canada, buisness hotels or simple guest house can offer really good value accomodation.<
Some things in particular are expensive in Japan, but basic stuff is cheaper then Canada basicaly.

Btw ive travelled in Japan for 70 days, ive been to a couple of places. PM me if you need recommendaiton on where and what to do.

Edit : And lol 6k for 1 week is a LOT(4 stars hotel in tokyo, fancy sushi restaurants, taxis etc etc). ive spent like 8k for 70 days and it was party all fucking day... Also the rate exchange back then didnt advantage me, so could even me more cheaper now.
Btw a Credit card is very convenient for travelling. Also you can use ur bank card to withdraw money in 7elevens (convenience stores), it's a good option. Just buy some yens at ur local bank for the first few days..

kyoto and osaka > tokyo.
if you do plan on exploring the nightl ife just be weary of scams and such.
judging by your profile pic the nigerians will have a field day with you.
