Listening to auido CD's can help you learn the rhythm of japanese, while some of those cheapy phrase books can help you with day-to-day phrases. Keep in mind that spoken japanese is generally done pretty fast, so it may take a while to pick up. I'm dreading the oral review in my japanese class this winter! =) Hope this helped some!

おながい/おながいします would sound better than kudasai. You wouldn't have to deal with te form(as gaikokujins call it)
