http://kakasi.namazu.org/ use kakasi to grab the kana for the kanji, then change the hiragana and katakana to right romaji.
since each kanji have different readings, its hard to make this from scratch, so might aswell use kakasi to help you.

ni - に -> that's not a kanji... that's hiragana for ni.

many japanese words have the Same kanji but completely different meanings, such as above easy example, not limited to 2 definitions either, some kanjis have many multiple meanings, and different uses all with different meanings

i don't understand what he is supposed to do, there is over 2000 kanjis.
also each with a lot of different readings, on'yomi, kun'yomi.

不思議 = mysterious =な-adjective
不　=　ふ　= fu
思　=　し　= shi
議　=　ぎ　= gi

i think its better to just go to jisho.org and check up words you need to know, its an online japanese dictionary. (or kanjis you need to know)
