Datteebayo doesn't mean anything...it's the equivelant of saying da in place of desu to be casual, but Naruto version. "Believe it" is Datteebayo fansubbers's logo.

Partly correct.

Datteebayo has no meaning but it's not quite the same concept as saying "da" in place of "desu," that involves levels of politeness.

Think of datteebayo as Naruto's version of "WTF?!"

"datteebayo" is a kind of ending on linguistics and itself means nothing.
but you (reader of manga / watcher of anime) can recognize who did speak it only by reading/hearing and finding phrases including "datteebayo" at the end.
in manga or anime world those variations of ending are very easy way to characterize unique individuals and used very often for such purposes.

Right, it's more of a personalized thing, not really meaning "WTF" cuz he will say it in many situations.
