I am trying to sign up to a chinese forum. it is asking this on the reg.. 中国人通常用什么数字串表达(一路发):
what do i input there?

The question is asking, "What string of digits do Chinese usually use to symbolise constant good luck/wealth"

the answer will be: 168

as the digits are 'yi' 'lu' 'fa' in Mandarin which has the meaning above.

haha u must have misunderstood what i typed. i know 168 is 一六八 in chinese, the hanyu pinyin is yi liu ba, but the reason why 168 can represent 一路发 is because in some dialect (forgot Cantonese or Hokkien), 168 is pronounced similar to yao lok fatt, or yi lu fa, which somewhat sounds like 一路发.
