my chinese word processor stopped working. but anyway I agree with this. I prefer to have the merc survive, this is why i am one of those people that would even make an insight in scythe for sorc so it doesn't 1 hit itself with iron maiden.
Similarly here, if you want to use inf just let it survive is the most important thing. Doesn't matter how "strong" a merc is, it doesn't know which monsters to attack first and it just isn't that clever xD
If you play in a party a lot I would have 1 point in meditation, salvation as well. Otherwise pump defiance for holy shield synergy.
I think:
Combat tree:
smite/holy bolt/hammer/charge 1 pt prereq
20 pt holy shield
sacrifice, zeal 20 pts
total = 64
I would add 1 point in vengence.
offensive tree:
3 points prereq to get to fanat
20pts fanat
subtotal = 64+1+23=88
now defensive aura tree have a lot of useful things that even 1 point would be good, basically everything apart from resist fire/cold/lightning
1 pt in vigor is basically a must if u don't tele, and since zealer doesn't have much fcr even with enigma he's slow.
defiance, cleansing, pray to get to vigor.
Total so far = 88+4=92. 12 pts from quests so you need to lvl 80 times. you get here at lvl 81.
Option1: you can either pump 18more into defiance as you continue to lvl, this will increase your own defensive as much as possible. This gives you lvl19 defiance, if you want to not use vengence and spend 1 more point here you can max this also.
Option2: if you duel a lot probably worth it to increase charge a bit, but i wouldn't waste it in there.
option3: pump smite.. also a waste
option4:1 point into meditation for mana boost for your party if you run baal/cs quite a bit (especially cs since insight mercs die to IM everything that's why people use lawbringer act3 mercs).
and 1 pt redemption, the free health and mana is great. and redemption works like rejuve potion and heals instantly can save your life sometimes. 1 point into salvation for running UT use salvation on meph to cancel most of his conviction, kill him then back to fanat and smite the other 2. These 3 useful auras only wastes 3 points. you can still pump 15 more points into defiance to max def.
I think option 4 is the best all round build, followed by option1 as the best solo build. (NN meditation for zeal it uses little mana, nn redemption just eat potions, nn salvation if you don't run UT, if you want to do everything and be useful go with option 4)
There is option 5 you can actually get 20 vengence at lvl99 if you don't waste points in defiances/redemption/meditation. But it's pointless, you have holy fire and holy shock from dragon and dream, don't need more elemental damage.
Nothing is immune to physical + fire + cold (if this ever happens just make a new game, i don't even think it's possible)
With you gear and option 4 you can solo everything in hell including bosses, be very useful to parties, and take down UT as solo with just 1 point in smite (of course here you need to change what you wear a bit, need guillaume face, coh, thundergod for a bit of light absorb, grief).
