I do charity nightmare games for ungeared players every so often to get a break from doing the hard content. I notice when people actually try... here are some ways to be useful using things you can get in much easier content.
1) Run an Apprentice or Huntress Guardian pet.
2) Run a Genie Pet and upgrade towers.
3) Give the builder mana during the first build phase, then use esc to see if the builder needs mana during successive build phases.
If you do these things, I may even give you free items! If you're better than average, I might even steam friend you and you can mooch gear at a future time!
