I was thinking the other day how AWESOME it would be if weapons / armors had different proc percentages for special chain lightning, or poison explosion, aoe stuns, etc....

This was just a thinking out loud post... :D

Also, on another note.. I love this game, I hate that it is hackable...Is it possible for them to implement server side items or whatever so it's not hackable...?

I've said this before but some of my favorite games with this type of random stat loot farming have been client side saving of items (Borderlands, Titan Quest, etc) and just kills the game, is it just becuase the makers of those games not having much money... ?

Yeah, they cant afford to host it on their servers. Cutting costs for other costs elsewhere.

It's possible but unlikely that they will do this because they're too cheap and incompetent to realize how to maintain their game's replay value.

Dedicated server side is no small feat, and requires rackspace, power, servers, bandwidth, etc.

The real question is would people still buy this game if it were a 50$ game all of a sudden?

It's about that much I think if you factor in the costs of all the DLCs + original game.

I consider DLC to be additional content, but the numbers aren't important. My point is they'd need to have a constant stream of incoming customers to justify their monthly expenses.

If you look at some of the other games out there that have dedicated servers, you'll find they either employ reocurring fees, or large entry prices. Large companies like bnet have an easier time, since they already have the infrastructure in place. It's tough for a small company to enter the market with their own servers and bandwidth. If you consider the problems they've been having with an established provider like steam...

All things aside, they're still testing the waters i'm sure, and they're going to follow the dollars. I don't know if anyone could honestly say they'd make more money in the long run if they had a server-side model, seeing as how the majority of their users are complaining about a 4 part 9.49 DLC :p

The thing that i think would make this game 100x more fun would be some sort of random buff/debuff ect. something along the lines of diablo items (except less %damage or ele damage and stuff since that already exists in the randomness of the items). Things like low % life leach, MAGIC FIND! increase mana drop, level restriction decrease accompanied with a basic debuff or something. The game is very obviously based entirely around getting awesome items. No one can really denie that. So may as well add in more mods both positive and negative to make getting that super awesome item harder. Also it would cut down on their need to just keep increasing the number of upgrades an item has. If they could establish a balanced random modifier setup for all items i think the playability of this game would go through the roof. I plan on sending this into trendy and i encourage all others out there to do the same for the sake of the game!
