I suggest just playing the game alone at first (in ranked online mode/private matches) just because everyone is super high level/ very well geared now. Playing with them will take away from the experience the game has to offer. You'll find trying to find new weapons addictive and fun (probably lol) unless someone gives you good items at the start, making it impossible for you to get anything better yourself for a long time.

After that...well, of course come online and get super geared like the rest of us xD
