What's the point of new seasons? You pretty much get placed where you were last season..

For rewards.
Also people clutch it during the tail end of a season
If there was no seasons people would care way less about their rank and the ranked experience would be closer to quick play in seriousness
Mostly psychological

I'm not sure if Overwatch does soft resets on MMR like LoL does
