So I'm like level 37 I enjoy the game but my friends are all a much higher level. Is it better for me to play alone vs my level range in general or just play with them?

Level doesn't really matter and quick play is all for fun so go ahead and play with your friends. You'll probably pick up faster how the game works team wise better than playing with basically the fresh accounts, so playing withyour friends is also the better option

it's all about mmr not level

if your friends are better than you it's best to paly with them as the opponents you face will probably be better

I would suggest playing with your friends in quick play and try to actually work together so you can get a sense for how ranked will be.
