I'm getting serious Mic-based harassment lately.

Join 3v3 game. "I'm going to rape your skull and pull a bag over your head and... bla bla". Unprovoked. Just random idiots talking into Mic from start.

Sometimes it'll be based on a hero I pick. I'll first pick widow in a 3v3. "I'm going to throw if you don't... bla bla bla".

I don't feed into it, but until I mute these assholes, it's constant yelling in the Microphone. I'd say it's about 1 in 6 or 7 games, which is REALLY often.

Yes, they do.

They take them as seriously as they can, with all the lil kids reporting for no real reason (ZOMG THIS GUI CHOOSE HANZO, ZOMG THIS GUI TOLD ME TO FOOK OF AFTER I RAGED AT HIM, etc.)

Also not sure how much of the voice chat it sends with report logs (even a minute long clip for every report would become tedious to listen to and store), so they probably only ban/mute in those situations where it's serial (1 game getting reported for raging in mic? Coulda been anyones fault. 10 games where everyones reporting someone for the same thing? A pattern emerges...)

Basically if someone's harassing you, just report & ignore or block them. If they're being a prick to everyone, Blizz will figure it out and deal with it eventually (Don't expect anything immediate, especially with their preference to ban in waves).

They don't read the reports; rather, their report system applies penalties automatically when an account is reported a sufficiently high number of times.

On the one hand, it's good news because you have a 100% certainty each and every one of your reports matters; on the other hand, it's bad news as it means if enough people who don't like the fact you picked widowmaker and refused to switch report you, you'll get that automatic penalty too, see for example this thread on reddit: http://bit.ly/2fSH9nf.

Stop playing blizzard games easy fix

I used to have the issue of feeding into bull shit teammates.
I would spend time typing or trash talking my own team. Even though I was almost always right it still doesn't help and usually distracts me from the game.

Then a friend said to me.. This game is no different from other games. The player base is shit and everyone is going to do whatever makes them enjoy their time on the game whether you like it or not.
I just turn all chats off and play the game. I enjoy it so much more and usually do better. Accept the fact that some people may not ever play with the team or care about the win.
If I really need to say something ill turn voice chat on for 1 second, say what I need to say, then turn it right back off.

This is every online game since forever...
Mute them and move on
