DOnt listen to any of these people

Reddit.com/r/overwatchuniversity

Read that every day, look for coaching and vod reviews

Work on:
Aim
Positioning
Target prioritization
Knowing your role
Know the maps in and out
Ult timing
Comms and shot calling

Watch all of your kill cams and make a conscious decision to learn from each one

Make an effort to work on something specific every game, are you communicating enemy positioning? Are you pressing tab to see who on your team / enemy's team is down? Are you using ults in a smart way? Are you out of position and forcing your team into a 5v6? Are you doing your job and if not are you willing to switch? Are you trying to keep track of enemy ults? Are you making coordinated pushes with your team? These are all questions you should be asking yourself and more

none of that would matter if your team doesn't follow up on the low hp targets, and your dead so its now 6v5 so no aim doesn't make up for poor decision making only if you make a bad decision and get a 2k anyways or kill a support even then it can be questionable if your the main dps your team may be unable to push with you dead.

its more likely that your team would see you killed half the enemy team and move in
as opposed to your team suddely being capable of aiming

we are talkign about the 1600 rating here
you guys just wnat to argue for no reason

I think the problem is that many players of lower rank usually have bad aim to start with. I've been in diamond the past two seasons and bad aim still exists. From my experience, around 2700 is when you start seeing better aim from players but there's too many people insta-locking DPS. Majority of them think that they are better DPS than the rest of the time and won't switch off when asked.

To the OP.
I would stick with heroes that require less aim like reaper, Winston, Reinhardt, junkrat and some others.

My intention isn't to argue it's to inform someone correctly. Can running up front without your team on mcree work sure, will it work more than it doesn't probably not, is trading 1:1 a good trade if your team loses a dps probably not unless its ana you kill, do you leave the rest of your team in a bad spot while your chasing a kill yes you do. You always like to say "i'm talking about 1600 here" like the game should be played differently at different skill levels and that is simply not the case. Can cheese strats work in low ranks and not work in higher ranks sure they can, should you really learn how to play that way of course not, It just develops bad habits, I mean its common sense. To climb you need consistency and basing your play around stuff that works "sometimes" isn't really a good way to climb you should be looking to play that way that provides a positive outcome the majority of the time. Your mindset is why you are still in those ranks its pretty easy to see from reading your posts.

I mean its all the way you look at things for example, lets say you are playing reaper on 2nd point hanamura and your team pushes a point, after the skirmish you are the only one left and 5 people on the enemy team are up, you ult kill 3 people and die to the remaining 2 maybe even get a tick on the point, was that a good play? Majority of lower ranks would think so but anyone higher mmr would know that had you saved that ult for a 6v6 5v5 6v5 situation you maybe could have won the whole point with that one ult which you essentially wasted to get a couple kills. Playing smart gets you wins, having good aim is a bonus in overwatch, people should learn strategy first then work on their aim that will achieve them higher ranks much quicker. Not everyone should play hitscan nor was the game designed for every player to be good at hitscan, nor was it designed so the only way to rise up the ranks be playing a hitscan character.
