no need for proof. pretty much everyone is getting ~50 SR of their SR at the end of last season, regardless of how well you did. I watched C9 6 stack and 10-0 placements and mendo got placed at almost the exact SR he was at the end of last season.

That's literally the most backwards thing I've ever read

only diamond and up are hitting almost the exact same rank after placements, plats is a mixed bag and from 2500 and down you start to see people placing upwards of 1000 rank lower than they were the previous season sometimes even with a winning record. They are trying to balance out the skill curve to many people were in gold/plat last season.

Apparently you, being 1 of 6 players, needs to play at a level 2000 points above your current level, to be statistically relevant to increase rank by a few hundred points.

It really is trash. Last season i was 3.5k~ and every game had a top 50 player in it. (top 500 was 3.9k~ish then) Highest i think i played with was #9, but had games with 20-50's multiple times. It has a lot to do with what region you live in also.

Top 500 looks like its going to be 4500+ coming from these placements

if you were above diamond odds are you will be higher, if you were below you will have a worse rating. Since last season 2-4k was the only thing people were ranked.

I really feel like the placement are useless since majority people getting close to the SR last season.

the top 500 probably will average out over time like in last season. Since when more people play games the ranks are going start to fluctuate. People can go on a winning streak and then they can go on losing streak and bam your out of the bracket.

the structure of placements has its flaws. Not much you can do about it. Just enjoy the game and hope you don't get put in group of idiots that don't know how to play as a team.

they said this would happen, the big problem they had is a lot of shitty players ranked higher than they should have been, the whole season thing is just fail cause if they let placements determine your start rank then we just end up with the same mess that s1/2 had with low ranked players better than they should be

My s2 highest was 3.5. If i wanna do the placement matches with irl friend who ended at 1.6k, and we lose- will i still get a similar rank based on that system?
