Actually. It doesn't matter. The point isn't how well you are or are not doing. It is that you have no way of securing the obj as widow unless the entire enemy team is dead.

getting gold elims on widow isn't hard especially considering you dont need to final blow to get an elim, killing the targets that actually need to be killed quickly and efficiently so that your team can easily take the point is another thing. If you aren't killing the healers/people ulting/pharah before they have time to impact a team fight your not doing your job your just a k/d player.

if i see someone pick widow i defense im sure to tell them not to suck

Widow will either destroy the game or be useless

Some think that a defense character on offense is bad in terms of team comp, which is wrong
It's just bad because people suck with her

I just find it adorable that blizzard listened to the butthurt babbies that had an issue with being able to kill healers in a single shot. Widow on attack serves close to zero purpose regardless of game mode on attack. I would rather have a hanzo that can clean shop on the objective with his ult than have wall hacks.

Basically, RIP WIDOW

If you think offensive Widow is bad you're automatically horrible at this game
Snipers get way more offensive play than defensive in high level matches

I think Widow is a great offensive and defensive hero. You're right that she can't be on top of the actual objective, but you can certainly pick off individuals hanging around the objective and when you take out something such as a lucio, it can be game changing.The key is to know how to navigate the map and play smart.

Plus, in my opinion, her ultimate is great. Probably my third favorite pick behind soldiers and lucios ultimates. It's easy to use and basically impossible to misuse. I actually much prefer it over Hanzos, (I never get more than 1-2 kills with that, I'm also just not a Hanzo guy though).

Also, while her assault rifle isn't the greatest, it is definitely usable and I've killed a plenty of heroes with it, especially when combined with the mines or a charged shot or team shots.

However, I will say that a decent DVA that wants you dead, will have you dead. The new DVA will maul through you if you're on her hitlist.

widow can be awesome on offense, I suck at her myself but ive seen lots of games where widow half carrys the team on offense.
also bastion and tjornbjorn can both be very effective on offense. Especially when paired with reindhart. Just get your turret on the cart and have reindhart stand there with shield up. Ez snipes with trollbjörns gun from behind the barrier too.

Yeah they both work on offense. Bastion more than Torb if your team can actually play around him.
I've seen some stomps in tournament play with Bastion + Lucio speed + Winston shield
