1: Each mod on your ring (or line of text) can give you up to 1 full point. So, 6 points is the maximum a ring can achieve.
2: Give 1 full point to any mod that is 66% or higher of the maximum value it can spawn. (obviously bad mods like stamina and shit dont count)
For example, a rare ring can spawn 40 Life, so give one full point to a ring with 28+ Life
3: Give 1/2 point to any mod that is 33-66% of the maximum value it can spawn.
For example, a rare ring with 7-13 Strength would be given 1/2 point.
4: Now, just calculate each mod and count them.
3.5 points AND UNDER = 99% of time, charsi (UNLESS START OF LADDER)
4 points = usable(pvp) and sellable
4.5 points = good ring
5 points = great ring, pvpers will be all over this
5.5 points = amazing ring
6 points = top ring on ladder

More In Depth Stuff
Details to think about:
1: Rare Rings can have 3 suffix mods and 3 prefix mods. Suffixes are KEY to a good ring. You really really want 3 of them.
These are the suffixes from the list above-
10 FCR
20 Str
15 Dex
40 Life
9 Rep Life
9 Minimum Damage
So a ring with
10 fcr, 20 str, 90 mana, 11@res is much worse than a ring with
10 fcr, 20 str, 40 life, 90 mana because it has the 3 suffixes instead of 2 suffix and 2 prefix.
The whole point of your items is to gain life (usually by saving hard stat points), and suffixes basically all add life.
A ring can still be good and usable without 3 suffixes, but it wont be godly.
2: Best Suffixes:
FCR (almost always neccesary..)
Str
Life
3: Best Prefixes:
MANA
All resists
4:The other affixes not listed under "best" are still good, but will only cater to specific builds. Whereas the "best" ones are used in 95% of pvp rings. These rings will get much more attention and sell at much higher prices because of the demand.
5: The combination of the stats is really important when pricing.
For instance, look at this ring-
10 fcr
9 min dmg
9 rep life
11@res
~Not many pvp characters teleport and do physical dmg, so fcr and 9 min dmg isnt a great combo.
~Since they will only buy this if they do physical dmg, then they are a character who is melee and doesnt care as much about rep life like a sin or sorc would because they constantly have to dive into the fight to do dmg.
~Gaining life is KEY and this has no life or stats (which basically add life).
Now if the ring was:
10 fcr
20 str
40 life
11@res
It would be worth so so much more because basically any build wants these stats. Its great for 95% of pvp builds. (Its really only missing mana, which is a bummer, but on ladder there arent always great choices so mana gets thrown to the wayside. But its still the best stat if you want a GODLY ring)
But realize that they are both 4 point rings, and both have 3 suffixes. So acknowledging the combination of mods your ring has and realizing which and how many builds can use it is very very important when talking about pricing.
