If you do not pay your council tax on the dates on your bill, you will receive a reminder and if you still do not pay, you run the risk of receiving a court summons for the full amount.
We do not want this to happen, so get in touch with the council tax team as soon as possible if you have problems with paying. This gives us a chance to work together to clear what you owe.
We want to help you if you have problems paying bills for council tax, business rates, or any other debts that you owe us (for example, housing benefit over payments that you have to repay). We understand the difficulties that you may have in paying your debts and will work closely with other departments and agencies outside of the council to help you.
First Reminder Notice
You must ensure that the payment reaches the council until the date of payment. If the payment is not received within 14 days after the installment payment, a reminder is given. If you receive a reminder, you must immediately make the requested payment. If the payment is not received within seven days of the date of the Reminder, you lose your right to pay in installments; if the outstanding balance has not been paid after a further seven days, a summons may be issued.

Second Reminder Notice
If your payments are reopened after receipt of the first reminder, you will receive a second reminder. This is the last reminder you will receive from the board during the tax year. If your installments have expired, you lose the right to pay installments without obtaining further information. With the notification of the first reminder, if you do not pay the installments within seven days, then your right to pay according to installments has been lost and the remaining balance of all the remaining balance will not be received after the next seven days.
Final Notice
If your installments have expired for the third time, the board will issue the remaining final notification, the balance will be sought for the remaining balance of the remaining year. You have already lost your right to payment in installments and you must pay this amount within seven days to avoid being summoned.
