http://lifehacker.com/how-to-turn-your-raspberry-pi-into-a-retro-game-console-498561192

So by now we have all at the very least heard of the Raspberry Pi and all of the cool and interesting things its capable of. Ive been interested in them from the first time I saw a you tube video about them. About a year ago I started using my own and playing around with an old RPi A(the first model of Pi). Ive used it for various things from my own fm transmitter for work to writing papers for college. Its a versatile little chip, and recently I came across this video of an emulation station in a miniature arcade box( https://youtu.be/Cn7WWqWjABQ) and immediately ordered a pi3 for a similar project. Im not building the full cabinet like the one in the video. Instead, ive decided to use a custom case built out of something I already have. Thankfully my choices are many and my ability to retrofit the device in said case is good.

The plan is to use ps3 controllers via Bluetooth and a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse I ordered to control everything. This opens up the usb ports for other things I may use(I have a steam controller and a few other gadgets that use usb). Other controllers like snes and nes controllers are possible and if I choose nes/snes cases ill be sure to make/order a pair. With the Retro pi software I can set it to enable the controllers on startup so the keyboard/mouse is only needed for initial setup and to add new games, which can also be done via the network without connecting the keyboard to the Pi. Once the system is fully configured I should be able to retrofit it to a custom case for use in the living room or possibly a portable handheld. Ive found various screens for different uses compatible with the Pi for the project. Parts can be chosen later once I decide on a case to use.

My Rpi3 is being delivered today so I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread and use it to update my progress. Im going to try to involve the community here on jsp a little bit to choose a case. The case needs to be easy to transport and look decent so some of these options are better than others obviously. But if there is a case people really want to see that isnt travel friendly I may make it just for fun if enough people request it.

I was thinking ps1 original casing(old boxy one) or a nes/snes. But im open to opinions. If you would like some examples google "custom raspberry Pi cases" there are millions of ideas out there.

Available console cases:

ps1
ps2
gamegear
dreamcast
nes
snes
virtual boy
game boy(original gray model)
game boy advance??(might not have this anymore)

others:
old nextel brick phone(might not fit)
various laptop cases
custom wood case
custom metal case
custom lego case

Other ideas welcome broken consoles are cheap :p Thanks for reading.
